A shrub or small tree Height: 3 to 10 meters tall Leaves: Leaves are opposite, oblong to elliptic, and 5 to 1 centimeters long, the apex being pointed, and the base usually rounded. Flowers: Peduncles are 1- to 3-flowered. Flowers are white, 3 to 3.5 centimeters across, with in-curved petals, coming out solitary or two to three in the leaf axils. Numerous stamens form the attractive part of the flower. Fruits: The fruit is either rounded (globose), egg-shaped (ovoid) or pear-shaped (pyriform) and turns from green to yellowish in colour as it matures. These berries (2.5-10 cm long) are crowned with the remains of the persistent sepals (calyx lobes) and have a juicy pink, white or yellowish coloured pulp containing numerous seeds.

Medicinal Uses & Benefits

Kalibanga (diarrhea). Preparation: Collect enough number of leaves and wash thoroughly. Boil in 3-5 glasses of water. Part used: Newly-sprout leaves | Samad (wounds). Preparation: Pound 3-5 leaves and squeeze to extract the juice.. Part used: Leaves
